Thai Totes is a non-profit organization which began shortly after the 2004 ASian Tsunami by three teenagers from Virginia Beach, Virginia. After visiting a tsunami displacement camp, the girls decided to start a small project of making purses with ten women in the camp who had lost their homes, family members and jobs. This purse project provided a much needed income for the women and their families. The purses made of local materials and following Fair Trade Standards were sold in the USA. Thai Totes is a partnership with Step Ahead Micro-enterprise Development.
The Thai Totes project has now expanded to also help women at risk of entering the sex trade industry and those who desire freedom from prostitution. Thai Totes is partnering with local organizations and Christian ministries in Pattaya, Thailand (“Sin City”) to provide economic and educational resources for these women and their children.
By supporting Thai Totes and purchasing their beautiful bags, you are making a difference in the lives of Thai women. All proceeds go towards supporting these women and their work.
